The 19th Generation Ancestors Serving the Community

Records of the 19th generation ancestors came to Singapore in 1892, participated in some community services in Chinese Clan association, Hospital, and School.

The 19th generation ancestor Wong Lee Sit (黄理燮) founded Clan Association - Tianhe Shenyuantang (天河慎远堂) in 1915 with a group of immigrants from the same hometown of Tianhe (天河), and raise funds to build a general cemetery to bury the deceased immigrants from the same hometown, and the Spring and Autumn worship were held yearly. The 19th generation ancestor Wong Lee Swee (黄理瑞) and other hometown immigrants initiated and established the Clan Association - Thin Ho Thung Heong Wui (天河同乡会) in 1940, temporarily renting the Clan Association - Tham Si Tsung She (谭氏宗社) at No. 68, Club Street (大坡乞纳街) as the clan premises. In December 1941, the Japanese army went south, and during the fall of Singapore, various activities could not be carried out. Only after the recovery in 1945, the activities in the association were carried out. In 1954, the fundraising of the clan premises was initiated. The 19th generation ancestor Wong Lee Swee (黄理瑞) and the 20th generation ancestor Wong Nai Tong (黄乃棠) were the sponsor members. In 1956, No. 20, Ann Siang Road (大门楼安详律) was purchased as the clan premises.



Tham Chin Lun (谭展纶),1898 - 1975. In 1939, he came to Singapore and founded Zhan Lun School (展纶学校) on Temple Street (登婆街), then moved to No. 70 Club Street (客纳街). After death, he donated his remains for medical teaching and research purposes.

The 19th generation ancestor Wong Lee Sit (黄理燮) was the one of the board of directors of Yeung Ching School (养正学校) in 1929.

The 19th generation ancestor Wong Lee Sit (黄理燮) was appointed as the board of director of Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital (广惠肇留医院) in 1926.

The 19th generation ancestor Wong Lee Sit (黄理燮) was one of the board of director of Thong Chai Medical Institution (同济医院) in 1931.

In 1933, the 19th generation ancestor Wong Lee Sit (黄理燮) and the 19th generation ancestor Wong Lee Swee (黄理瑞) were committee member of one of the Singapore oldest Chinese Clan association established in 1840 - Kong Chow Wui Koon (冈州会馆). Kong Chow (冈州) is the old name for Xinhui (新会).
